Deborah Arnott, Director of Action on Smoking and Health (ASH), has praised the UKCTCS for its work informing members of parliament on the research evidence surrounding tobacco displays in retail outlets and vending machines. She writes:

"The Centre played an important role both in writing letters and in generally supporting the work and helping provide the evidence base. Thanks particularly to Gerard Hastings who has been tirelessly travelling back and forth between Scotland and London. Only yesterday, with Ann McNeill, he was presenting on the evidence base and the evaluation of the Irish experience to MPs at Westminster in advance of the vote. I look forward to continued collaborative working in the future. The excellent academic work carried out in this country on tobacco control issues provides an essential foundation to all our campaigning and makes us not only more effective but also helps make sure we're campaigning on the right issues."
