Postgraduate modules in Tobacco Control

Registration is now open for two postgraduate modules in tobacco control.  These modules are held at the University of Nottingham and are aimed at early career researchers and postgraduate students.

Key points:

Module 1 - The Epidemiology of Tobacco Use and the role of the Tobacco Industry. 30th January to 3rd February 2012.

  • Explain the role of tobacco in national and international mortality and morbidity patterns and its contribution to health inequalities
  • Critique the role of nicotine in tobacco use and reflect on the range of tobacco products available internationally
  • Summarise the role of the tobacco industry and appraise its role in the tobacco epidemic

Module 2 - Tobacco Control Interventions. 11th to 15th June 2012.

  • Assess the contribution of a range of tobacco control interventions to reduce tobacco use in both individuals and the population
  • Critique potential future tobacco control interventions and be able to design and evaluate a tobacco control intervention
