What we are:

  • A UK Centre for Public Health Research Excellence
  • A partnership of nine university teams conducting research on tobacco control

Our aims:

We aim to deliver a comprehensive portfolio of multidisciplinary original research and policy work in national and global tobacco control activity. Find out more about our research.

  • Conduct research to reduce the burden of disease and disability caused by tobacco use
  • Engage with policy and practice in tobacco control and smoking cessation

Create a substainable structure in tobacco control science and practice, establishing the UKCTCS as a major international focus for training and development. Find out more about our teaching activities.

  • Establish training opportunities for people wishing to engage in tobacco control work
  • Foster the development of new researchers in tobacco control

We are not:

  • Linked to the tobacco industry - our research is conducted without tobacco industry funding or influence
  • A lobbying group, but have close links with advocacy organisations and will assist them where appropriate
