Life Cycle
In 2011, the Vice-Chancellor cycled 1,030 miles from John O'Groats to Land's End. He and his team raised £232,000 for research on palliative and end of life care.
In 2012, he cycled 1,087 miles from Cape Wrath to Dover to raise funds to help improve access to further and higher education for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Life Cycle 2 raised £258,000.

In August 2013, he led a team of 11 to take on the most challenging ride yet: 1,100+ miles covering the capital cities of the UK and Republic of Ireland to raise funds for Stroke Rehabilitation Research. The challenge ended on September 1st with a Community Day on University Park. Life Cycle 3 has raised £265,000 so far.

The Vice-Chancellor continues to lecture on a Year One ‘Current Economic Issues’ undergraduate module in The School of Economics.
